Short Description:

A hydraulic cylinder is a important device on Top drive that uses hydraulic fluid (like oil) to generate force in a linear motion, converting hydraulic energy into mechanical movement. It consists of a cylinder barrel, a piston inside the barrel, and a piston rod attached to the piston. When pressurized hydraulic fluid is forced into one side of the cylinder, it pushes the piston and piston rod, producing a linear force.
